Officer Involved Shooting – Armed Robbery Suspect Transported to Local Hospital
PIO Watson is responding to the scene Command Post on 2800 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Way.
Background: On August 12, 2015 at approximately 2:39 PM, officers in the area of 69th Avenue and International Boulevard located a vehicle that was involved in an armed robbery. The officers initiated a vehicle pursuit, which led to the area of 27th St. and MLK Jr. Way, where the driver had fled the suspect vehicle on foot and was attempting to carjack another vehicle. An Oakland Police officer discharged their firearm, striking the suspect, who was transported to a local hospital. No officers were injured.
