Suspicious Person - Mar Vista High School (Imperial Beach)

The Sheriff's Department wants your help in locating and identifying a suspicious person who tried to talk to students near Mar Vista High School in Imperial Beach.

It happened around 2:45 p.m. on Monday, August 10th near the high school located in the 500 block of Elm Street.

Witnesses say a man approached high school students offering information about an after-school program and opportunities to earn extra credit or regain credit for a chance to earn a free iPad.

According to witnesses, the man also approached elementary school children in the area.

The man carried a clipboard; however, he is NOT a school employee and did not wear any identification. The students he approached say they did not notice any logo on the man's clothing or on his paperwork.

The man is described as:

A white male between 35 and 45 years of age, standing 5'7" tall with a slightly muscular build. He has dark eyes and black hair worn long and 'slicked back' in a ponytail and curly. The man has a slightly pock-marked face, crooked and blackened teeth and may have a goatee. His overall appearance was unkempt. He also had bad body odor. The man was wearing a white polo-type shirt, blue jeans and possibly glasses.
