Peru Woman Arrested for Burglary

Miami County – Recently, a burglary investigation by Indiana State Police Detective Josh Maller and Trooper Jonathon Cole resulted in the arrest of Ann Marie Confer, 33, 302 West 10th Street, Peru, IN. Confer was incarcerated in the Miami County Jail to face three felony charges for burglary, residential entry, and theft.

The officers started an investigation after the owner of a home at 147 East Miami County Road 800 South, rural Bunker Hill, reported his residence had been burglarized on May 5, 2015. The investigation revealed that jewelry and a handgun were allegedly stolen from the residence. The residence is about 200 yards west of Maconaquah High School. The school has a camera surveillance system which allegedly caught the image of a blue Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The car appeared to have damage to the driver’s side mirror. Further investigation indicates the Chevrolet was being driven by the person who burglarized the Bunker Hill home.

During the investigation, officers recovered some of the stolen jewelry at pawn shops in Miami and Cass Counties. Further investigation revealed that Confer had allegedly pawned the items. On Monday, Indiana state troopers made a traffic stop on a blue Chevrolet Monte Carlo being driven by Confer. She was taken into custody on an arrest warrant unrelated to the burglary.

Evidence obtained during the ongoing investigation, led to officers being granted a Miami Superior Court II arrest warrant for Confer. Yesterday, at the Miami County Jail, Confer was served the warrant alleging three felony counts for burglary, residential entry, and theft. She has a surety bond of $30,000.
