Advisory

Deputy Shoots Dog In East Bakersfield

Details:

On 8/11/15 at approximately 3:15pm, deputies were at a residence in the 200 block of Oswell Street regarding a possible theft investigation.  A pit bull dog was chained to a post in the yard next door. The chain broke and the pit bull jumped over a four foot chain link fence and charged towards a deputy. The pit bull came within several feet of the deputy. The deputy feared the pit bull was going to bite him.  The deputy fired at the pit bull from his duty weapon, grazing the pit bull.

Kern County Animal Control came to the scene and released the pit bull to its owner. The pit bull required no medical treatment.  No one, including the deputy, was injured during the incident.
