Tuesday update on boil water: The BOIL ADVISORY in the 5th district is to remain in effect until rescinded by the Water System.
St. James Parish Government – Boil Water Advisory
This is a message from the St. James Parish Utilities Department. Water System #2 experienced problems with our water supply system and repairs were made to a water line this afternoon. As a result of the repairs, customers from 4635 Hwy 18 (Waguespack Welding and Manufacturing) going north on Hwy 18 to the Sunshine Bridge (Lemonville Community) experienced a loss of water pressure while repairs were made.
Because of these problems, the water produced by our water supply system is of questionable microbiological quality. Therefore, as a precaution, the Water System is issuing a BOIL ADVISORY effective immediately for customers who lost water pressure. This BOIL ADVISORY is to remain in effect until rescinded by the Water System.
It is recommended that all customers disinfect their water before consuming it, making ice, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means: Boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. Again please be sure to disinfect your own water prior to consumption until you have been advised otherwise. The Water System will rescind this Boil Advisory upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals – Office of Public Health that additional water samples collected from our water supply system have shown our water to be safe. You will receive notification when the Boil Water Advisory has been rescinded.
Thank You for your Patience,
St. James Parish Government
