DOWAGIAC MAN ARRESTED IN HOWARD TOWNSHIP HOME INVASION
Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood J.R. reports that a 32-year-old Dowagiac man is in custody after breaking into a Howard Township residence.
On 8/9/2015 at 04:02 A.M., deputies responded to a Howard Township residence for a home invasion. Deputies spoke with a female, who advised a male acquaintance of hers had climbed through her bathroom window and then made his way to her bedroom. She awoke to the suspect standing in her room. She kicked the suspect and he fled back out the same window he used to gain entry to the residence. While he was leaving the residence, the suspect stole some personal hygiene products belonging to the victim.
Deputies were able to locate the suspect who was sleeping in his vehicle a short distance away from the incident location. A search of his vehicle recovered the missing hygiene products from the victim's residence. The suspect was subsequently arrested. His name will be withheld pending formal arraignment.
The Michigan State Police assisted the Sheriff's Office with the investigation.
