Hit and Run Driver Located near Scene of Crash
Vigo County—Last night at 10:49, Indiana State Police and Terre Haute city emergency agencies responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of 5th and Hulman Streets in Terre Haute. One driver was injured and the fleeing driver was found and arrested on various charges.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by 27-year-old, Jessica N. Marshall of 1415 South 7th Street, Terre Haute, was northbound on 5th Street and failed to yield to an eastbound 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by 52-year-old, Curtis Whitt of Terre Haute, IN. After the collision, Ms. Marshall fled the scene and was located approximately one hour later at her residence. She was incarcerated in the Vigo County on charges of Operating While Intoxicated and Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Crash. Ms. Marshall tested .08% BAC.
Whitt was taken to Terre Haute Regional Hospital for treatment of possible multiple fractures and facial injuries. Helmet was not in use and Whitt was not cited for any violations.
The crash was investigated by Trooper Nicole Cheeks. Assisting were ISP Trooper Rondell Shelton, THPD Officer Brian Hall, and Terre Haute Fire/EMS.
