Traffic Crash with 2 Injuries


Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. of the Cass County Sheriffs Office reports that on 08/09/2015 at 2:34pm deputies responded to a single vehicle personal injury accident on M-40 south of Teasdale Lake St. in Porter Township.
Investigation at the scene discovered that the driver 19 year old Jesus Arrey of Kalamazoo, MI was southbound on M-40 and attempting to pass an RV in a no passing zone, at a high rate of speed. The vehicle swerved to miss an oncoming northbound vehicle and ran off the roadway to the right. The vehicle then overturned multiple times.
Arrey and a passenger 22 year old Latasha Osborn of Kalamazoo, MI were injured in the crash. Both were transported to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Seat belt use is unknown and alcohol does not appear to have been a factor.
Assisting at the scene was the Michigan State Police from post 53, Porter Ambulance and Fire Department and Edwardsburg Ambulance.
