Alert

Potential for Severe Weather Today

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for much of North and Central Georgia due to a strong upper level disturbance approaching the area which is expected to produce strong thunderstorms with the potential for some of the storms to reach severe limits.

The main hazards will be damaging wind gusts of 60+ MPH, locally heavy rainfall and frequent lighting strikes.

The best chances for severe weather will be between 2PM and 10PM.

Please be especially alert this afternoon when schools will be letting kids out and buses rolling during the peak heating and favorable severe storm development phase of this disturbance.

Monitor local media and/or NOAA Weather for additional statements and later warnings.

Instructions:

Remain weather aware and keep updated with local media and/or NOAA Weather.

Remove small and loose unsecured items from yards to prevent damage, have contingency and storm safety plans in place and be prepared for some power outages and road hazards this afternoon and evening.
