National Night Out Wrap-up.

Newark’s National Night Out 2015 was once again a success with twenty-nine registered neighborhood events, including a free document and hard drive shred event at City Hall. The Newark Library and the Tortilla Factory participated with their own fun and engaging activities for their customers while the rest of the neighborhoods held barbeques, potluck dinners and had activities for the children. Approximately fifty Newark residents took advantage of free paper shredding, hosted by the City of Newark Police Department totaling approximately one ton of material in order to combat identity theft. Numerous citizens joined in on an individual basis by leaving their porch lights on during the early evening hours showing their support and agreement that crime needs to leave Newark, our citizens are virulent, have a great working relationship with their police department, and will not hesitate to report suspicious activity. Entities involved in visiting participating neighborhoods included the Newark Police Department, California Highway Patrol, members of the Newark City Council, Alameda County Fire RAVEN Volunteers, Newark Explorers, CERT, and Ham Radio Operators.
Remember: Hear It, See It, Report It.
