PERSONNEL BOARD SWEARING-IN
(Etowah County, Alabama) Appointed members of the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office personnel board will be sworn-in tomorrow, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

A public swearing-in ceremony will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, August 5, at 10:30 a.m., in the multi-purpose room of the Sheriff’s Office. The first board meeting will follow.

Legislation, sponsored by Representative Mack Butler, was passed in the regular session creating the board that will govern personnel policies and matters concerning employees of the Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Entrekin and the Etowah County delegation of legislators each made one appointment the board.

Sheriff Entrekin said, “This personnel board will be valuable to the employees of the Sheriff’s Office concerning matters that take place within an agency that must run 24/7.”

Senator Phil Williams stated, “I’m pleased that a new personnel board has been established for the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office. The unique needs of our law enforcement personnel will be far more completely addressed by having a board of qualified individuals that are tuned in to the day-to-day intricacies of the Sheriff’s Office.”

The appointees are:

Craig Inzer, Jr. – Sheriff Todd Entrekin
Dave Jenson – Senator Phil Williams
Tim Heard – Representative Craig Ford
Gina Coggins Price – Representative Becky Nordgren
Lana Bellew – Representative Mack Butler

“I look forward to working with these five appointees,” Sheriff Entrekin added. “Each of them brings unique experiences to the board that will be beneficial to Sheriff’s Office employees.”

The establishment of the board ensures the best possible management of Sheriff’s Office personnel. Sheriff Entrekin says it will aid in recruitment and retention of quality employees.

Representative Nordgren spoke of her appointment, Gina Coggins Price, “Her experience as an attorney will be a tremendous asset to the newly formed Personnel Board.”

Representative Ford stated, “I am confident that Mr. Tim Heard will serve this board well with upmost respect to law enforcement with his military and law enforcement background.  I would like to thank him for volunteering to serve as House District 28 appointee.”

Representative Butler said Dr. Lana Bellew is looking forward to serving her community in this capacity. He also added, “Dr. Bellew brings more than 20 years of leadership experience to this board as an educational consultant and grant writer.”

This legislation has been signed by Governor Robert Bentley. However, for full implementation it must also be ratified by the citizens of Etowah County as a constitutional amendment. It will be placed on the ballot in the next general or special election, which ever may come first.
