Tomorrow is National Night Out! Tues, Aug 4th - A list of this year's events in Los Angeles County #LASD 

 

On Tuesday, August 4, 2015, neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles County are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide, for the 32nd Annual “National Night Out” crime and drug prevention event. 

National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. 

It will involve more than 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases around the world.  More than 35 million people are expected to participate in “America’s Night Out Against Crime” on August 4, 2014.

National Night Out is designed to heighten awareness on crime and drug prevention, generate support and participation in local anti-crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

On August 4, 2015, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m., residents in neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles County and across the nation are being asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and Law Enforcement.  Many neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles County will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, and flashlight walks.  Following are the patrol stations that will be involved in various activities in their respective station areas during the evening.

 

NORTH PATROL DIVISION

 

Lancaster Station – Unincorporated Area of Lake Los Angeles

Lancaster Sheriff Station will be hosting an Open House of their Lake Los Angeles Sub-Station from 6:00pm to 8:00pm (40235 170 Street East. Lake Los Angeles). Lancaster Station – Unincorporated Area of Antelope Acres

Lancaster Sheriff Station will be conducting a rededication of the Antelope Acres Community Center (8812 W Avenue E-8, Lancaster, behind the Fire Station) with county officials, business and community members.  This public event also gives the Sheriff’s Department the ability to highlight crime prevention and community relations efforts that would be an integral part of the center.  Light refreshments will be available and giveaways.  For more information please contact Sergeant Theresa Dawson at (661) 948-8466.

 

Malibu/Lost Hills Station

 

Malibu / Lost Hills Sheriff Station will be holding its annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, from 6:00pm-8:00pm. on the cul de sac block of America Way (cross street is Declaration Avenue) in the Mulwood area of Calabasas. All Calabasas residents are invited to attend this event and should bring their own lawn chairs, blankets, food, and beverages.  This event will have law enforcement representatives join the community they serve to discuss public safety and related community matters.  For more information please contact Deputy Michael Woodard at (818) 878-1808.

 

Palmdale Station

Each year the City of Palmdale holds National Night Out in conjunction with their Thursday Nights on The Square.  This is held at Poncitlan Square which is directly in front of all or our city buildings.  The city will have numerous displays from all sectors of the public safety community.  Our involvement includes displays from EOB, CERT, our station command post, Search and Rescue Vehicles, Motors, Bike Patrol, Bearcat Armored Vehicle, Neighborhood Watch, and we work with the Red Cross. Santa Clarita Valley Station

Santa Clarita Station will be participating with the city of Santa Clarita in “Concerts at the Park” on Saturday, August 8, 2015. The location is Central Park (27150 Bouquet Cyn. Rd.) in the city of Santa Clarita with a starting time of 1700. The station will have displays and safety information out for public consumption.  Our local CHP office (Newhall) asked to join and will be there as well. West Hollywood Station

Will be celebrating National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, with numerous Neighborhood Watch block parties from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.  For more information please contact Sergeant Jon Klaus at (310) 855-8850.

 

CENTRAL PATROL DIVISION

 

Avalon Station

Avalon Station on August 4, 2015, out on the Island of Catalina will have McGruff the crime fighting dog and a deputy sheriff walking along Front Street during the early evening hours from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.  Avalon will have station volunteers walking through town looking for unsecured items in front yards, in vehicles or other tempting items for criminal, ie; keys left in golf carts.  The volunteers will leave notes for the property owners to encourage them to better secure their valuables.  For more information please contact Captain Doug Fetteroll at (310) 510-0174.

 

Century Station

Will be celebrating National Night Out on August 4, 2015, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with a block party in the unincorporated area of Florence and Firestone on Nadeau St. just west of Compton Ave. Free food for the first 500 attendees. Century Station - City of Lynwood

Will be celebrating National Night Out on August 4, 2015 at the Yvonne Burke-John D. Ham Park (11832 Atlantic Ave. Lynwood) from 5:30pm to 8:30pm with crime prevention, drug awareness and information booths on local community services. Compton Station

Community members are being invited on August 4, 2015 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “32nd Annual National Night Out” crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by TARGET and the City of Compton (1621 S. East Los Angeles Station – Unincorporated Area

East Los Angeles Station – Cities of Cudahy and Maywood

National Night Out will be held at the newly renovated and expanded City of Cudahy Clara Park (     ) and the in the City Maywood’s Southeast Rio Vista YMCA (4801 E. 58 St. Maywood). Festivities will begin with community members meeting at two both parks on opposite ends of the city and walking or bike riding to National Night Out. To their respective city center.  There will be various displays including city departments, Sheriffs Department K-9, SWAT Vehicle, bike patrols and Department Explorers.  There will be a “Dunk Tank” with East Los Angeles Sheriff Station Captain Biagini designated for a dunking from 6:30pm-7:00pm.  McGruff the crime fighting dog will be the honorary guest for the night.  There will be lots of activities for the kids including face painting, a free karate class and a movie night scheduled.  There will be many vendors offering different benefits to the community.  Members of the city council for Cudahy and Maywood are expected to participate in their city’s National Night Out activities.  For more information please call Sergeant Cindy Bearse at (323) 264-4151 or via her cell at (213) 422-8325.

 

Marina Del Rey Station

The theme is “Embracing Diversity in a Changing Community” Station Clergy will be holding and information evening of presentation by local religious leaders focusing on community leadership, crime prevention and building stronger community relations. South Los Angeles Station

Carson Station

Will be celebrating National Night Out on August 5, 2015, with a community gathering at the Carson Sheriff’s Station (21356 S. Lakewood Station -  City of Artesia

The City of Artesia will be celebrating National Night Out on August 4, 2015, with a community BBQ at Artesia Park (18750 Clarkdale Avenue, Artesia CA) from 5:30 to 8:00pm. Norwalk Station- Unincorporated Area of Whittier

Will be celebrating National Night Out, in the unincorporated area of Whittier with a March and Rally Against Crime.  The march will assemble at 5:30pm at the Community Resource Center (10750 Laurel Ave., Whittier) and begin promptly at 6:00pm and will conclude at Amelia Mayberry Park (13201 E. Meyer Rd., Whittier) followed by public safety displays, prizes, food, and a concert in the park till 9:00pm.  Shuttle services for community members will have pickup and drop off from several community parks within the area. Norwalk Station – City of La Mirada

The City of La Mirada will be hosting their National Night Out event on Thursday, August 6, 2015 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at La Mirada Regional Park. ( 13806 La Mirada Blvd, La Mirada). Altadena Station

Will be celebrating National Night Out on August 4, 2015, with the Sheriff’s Station presenting and highlighting local services and crime prevention resources to the community members.  Attending will be members from the Sheriff’s Department Mounted Posse, Volunteers On Patrol (VOP), Explorers, Reserves and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Volunteers. Crescenta Valley Station

Temple Station - City of Rosemead

Temple Sheriff Station in partnership with the City of Rosemead’s Public Safety Department is hosting a summer BBQ, sponsored by Target Corporation of Rosemead, to celebrate the 32nd Annual National Night Out. The event is on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., at the Rosemead Public Safety Center at Zapopan Park (8301 Garvey Avenue, Rosemead). It is a night to celebrate safety, crime prevention, emergency preparedness and back-to-school resources. Rosemead’s National Night Out Celebration will include:  Neighborhood Watch Program Information, Crime Prevention and Safety Tips, “Free” Hot Dogs, Chips, and bottled water provided by Target/Rosemead Store* (while supplies last), Moon Bounce for children.  Raffle Prizes donated by Rosemead Target Store, and other local businesses. Walnut/Diamond Bar Station

Walnut/Diamond Bar Station will be celebrating National Night Out on August 15, 2015 at 4:00pm to 9:00pm.
