Narrative:
On July 30, 2015, at approximately 11:00 AM, the City of Thousand Oaks Police Special Enforcement Unit received information that Nicholas Wagemann was on active probation with the Ventura County Probation Department. The information received was that Wagemann was currently staying at a local motel in Newbury Park and that Wagemann was possibly a suspect in multiple thefts and/or burglaries in the Newbury Park area the previous morning.

Detectives from the Special Enforcement Unit located Wagemann at the local hotel and conducted a probation search of the motel room he was staying in. Walker, May, and Hammer were also contacted inside the motel room. Detectives located numerous credit cards and personal checks that did not belong to any of the subjects in the room. Through their investigation, detectives discovered the credit cards, checks, and a multitude of other items had been stolen the previous morning in the Newbury Park area. Detectives also searched a vehicle that belonged to Walker. Detectives also located stolen property from recent thefts inside the vehicle.

Wagemann and Walker were arrested for 459 PC – Burglary, 487(a) PC – Grand Theft, 484(a) PC – Theft, 466 PC – Possession of Burglary Tools, and 11550 (a) H&S – Under the Influence of a controlled substance. Wagemann is also being held on a probation violation. May and Hammer were arrested for 11550(a) H&S Under the Influence of a controlled substance.

All four subjects were booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility. May and Hammer were ultimately released with a court appearance date in October. Wagemann and Walker are being held on $80,000 and $60,000 bails respectively. Both Wagemann and Walker are scheduled to appear in the Ventura County Superior Court on August 3, 1015, at 1:30 PM.

Thefts from vehicles and open garages continue to be one of the highest reported crimes in the city. The Thousand Oaks Police Department would like to remind the community to lock their cars and to avoid leaving items of value in their cars.

The Special Enforcement Unit is still attempting to identify the owners of the numerous recovered items. If you believe you were a victim of a burglary or theft from your open garage or vehicle during the early morning hours of July 30, 2015, please contact Detective William Meixner at 805-371-8331 or email [email protected].
