RE: Vann Drive Fatal Traffic Crash 30 July 2015
On 30 July 2015 at approximately 2100, officers of the Jackson Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash in the 500 block of Vann Drive. The preliminary findings indicate that a 2012 Ford Fusion being operated by Mr. Thomas Hogan was facing south and attempting to turn left onto Vann Drive from the driveway of a business when his vehicle was struck by a westbound car. Mr. Hogan and his wife Julie Hogan who was a passenger were severely injured in the crash. Despite the efforts of Emergency Medical personnel neither of the Hogan’s survived their injuries. The westbound car was a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu that was being operated by Markarious Searchy. She was also injured in the crash and is expected to make a complete recovery. All of those involved are residents of Jackson.
At this time no charges have been filed. An investigation that will include a complete traffic crash reconstruction is underway and will continue until all aspects of the events leading up to and the crash dynamics of the crash event are scientifically determined and thoroughly documented.
