Public meeting scheduled to discuss WIS 54, County U intersection in Wood, Portage counties 
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public involvement meeting to discuss proposed improvements to the WIS 54 and County U intersection, located east of Wisconsin Rapids in Wood and Portage counties.
The meeting is scheduled to take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at the Biron Municipal Center, 451 Kahoun Road, Biron. A brief presentation is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. The remainder of the meeting will follow an informal, open house format.
The purpose of the project is to enhance safety at the intersection by reducing crashes and crash severity. WisDOT evaluated a wide range of alternatives to address the safety and mobility needs at this location. The objective of the August 6 meeting is to present the preferred alternative for the intersection reconstruction and obtain input from the public.
Adjacent property and business owners are encouraged to attend the meeting. Citizens who are hearing impaired and require an interpreter may request one by contacting Kristin McHugh at least three working days prior to the meeting via the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay System (711).
