Juvenile arrested for Hit-and-Run after colliding with a motorcyclist on the 405 freeway at Mulholland Drive.

Motorcyclists critically injured on the 405 (San Diego Freeway) at Mulholland Drive.

Los Angeles, CA - Tuesday morning at, 6:18 a.m., a hit-and-run collision occurred on the southbound I-405 (San Diego Freeway) at Mulholland Drive between a Ford Fusion, driven by a juvenile, and a motorcyclist.

The juvenile illegally crossed over double yellow lines into the carpool lane and collided with the motorcycle rider. The rider was ejected and sustained critical injuries. The juvenile failed to stop and fled the scene of the collision.

Witnesses quickly reported the make, model and license plate of the fleeing vehicle, along with a brief description of the juvenile driver. CHP investigators gathered intelligence from witnesses and evidence from the scene and quickly were able to track the juvenile down.

When contacted, the Investigators were able to obtain enough information to arrest the juvenile for felony hit-and-run resulting in critical injuries. Alcohol and drugs were not a factor and the juvenile had a valid driver license.

The motorcyclist sustained critical injuries and was transported to UCLA Westwood for treatment.

Safety Reminders

Creating a safer highway environment is the shared responsibility of drivers and motorcyclists alike. This is achieved by staying alert and using common sense and courtesy while on the road.

Here are other important safety reminders for motorcyclists and motorists:

-Watch your speed! A motorcycle collision is highly likely to cause injury or death

-Assume people in cars do not see you, and

-Avoid blind spots in other vehicles, particularly large trucks.

-Do not cross over double-yellow lines

-Look twice for motorcycles, and

-If involved in a collision, stay. Leaving the scene is not worth it.
