SUMMARY:
On July 25, 2015, at approximately 6:10 am, deputies from Sheriff’s Central Station responded to the report of a suspicious person in the 3000 Block of N. Del Rey Dr. Prior to their arrival, deputies received additional information through dispatch that the subject had been seen trying to jump the fence and into the yard of a residence. The caller described the subject as a black male adult, wearing a black shirt and carrying a backpack. The caller seemed extremely concerned for the safety of their neighbor. Responding deputies arrived on scene and quickly isolated the area the subject was last seen at. After checking several yards, deputies located the subject, later identified as Kenneth Thompson, in the backyard of a residence. While contacting Thompson, deputies found him armed with an axe and a club type weapon. Thompson cooperated with deputies orders, was disarmed and detained without incident. Continued investigation found that Thompson had an active Felony No Bail warrant for a parole violation, originating from a prior felony weapons violation. At the time of his contact by deputies, he was considered Armed and Dangerous.
Deputies determined Thompson did not know the property owner and had no legitimate reason for being in the yard or the neighborhood. Thompson was arrested and booked at Central Detention Center for his Parole Violation as well as the Felon in Possession of Weapons.
