Death Investigation in Parker City

Parker City – This afternoon around 2:36 p.m. off duty Trooper Lee Tinch, along with the Parker City Police responded to the report of shots fired at 347 N. Charles St. in Parker City.  When they arrived they discovered a deceased male outside the Key Kolony Apartments, and another deceased male in Kolony Apartment #16.

Preliminary investigation is that the male found outside, Jonathan L. Sumwalt, age 28 of Farmland, went to Apartment #16 and shot Michael L. Refzka, age 31, when he answered the door.  After shooting Refzka, Sumwalt then turned the gun on himself. At this time investigators believe the shooting was part of a dispute resulting from a love triangle.

The investigation is ongoing.  Pendleton Detective Ron Halbert is conducting the investigation, and was assisted at the scene by Pendleton Troopers, the Parker City Police Department, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department, the Randolph County Coroner and the Randolph County Prosecutor's Office.
