One arrested, three treated after related assaults in S. Amarillo...

On 7-25-15, at about 3:26 PM, officers were sent to 3400 Knoll, City View Elementary School, on a large fight.  Dispatch advised officers that 20-30 people were fighting.  While officers were responding, the victim, a HM juvenile, was stabbed and someone at the scene drove him to the hospital.  Witnesses still on the scene told officers that they saw two Hispanic males fighting and a large number of people around them, apparently watching and cheering.  The witnesses called 911.  One of the people that appeared to be watching then ran out from the group and fell to the ground, clutching his back and saying he’d been stabbed.  Officers learned that the suspect, a HM with a shaved head, had left the area in a black pickup.   While officers were investigating the event, a man matching the description of the suspect returned to the scene in another vehicle.  Officers recognized him as the suspect and arrested Ruben Isreal Sanchez HM 31.  He was later booked into the Randall County Jail for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.  The victim suffered one stab wound in the upper back.  The injury is not life-threatening.  Officers learned that the incident was part of a dispute that had happened earlier this week at a high school.  Investigators said that two juveniles involved had agreed to meet at the school parking lot to fight.

At about 5:52 PM, officers were sent to the intersection of Alexandria and Springfield on a fight.  APD and Randall County Deputies found a verbal dispute involving several people still under way in the front yard of a home in the 3500 block of Springfield.   Officers learned that two adult males had been shot during a fight outside the home, and that both had been taken from the scene by private vehicle.  The two were later picked up by ambulances that met them at a nearby parking lot and minor emergency center.  Investigators determined that people connected to one side of the fight at the school stopped at the home on Springfield.  Some occupants of the four vehicles that stopped tried to force their way into the home.  Male adults that had been at the home met them at the door and forced the people back out into the yard.  The fight continued out in the yard.  A resident of the home produced a handgun and fired two shots, striking two of the ones that had tried to enter the home.  One sustained an injury to his shoulder or back area, and the location of the second man’s bullet wound is not in reports currently available.  Both were in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries last night.  Detectives assigned to the case have interviewed the witnesses including the man that fired the shots.  All parties have been released pending investigation.
