This Saturday, August 1st, the Municipality of Anchorage Solid Waste Services Department will open the Central Transfer Station and Administrative offices, located at 1111 E 56th Avenue in Anchorage, to the public for their annual Customer Appreciation Day.
The annual SWS Open House & Customer Appreciation day aims to increase customer Awareness of public services provided by both the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) and State of Alaska through educational booths, equipment demonstrations, outreach materials and providing educational experiences provided by several municipal departments and community groups. The event is open to the public, and appropriate for all ages to join the festivities from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
Several events are scheduled throughout the day and include:
· A preview of our new Recycling Drop Off center
· Fire safety
· Bear Aware Education
· How to dispose of hazardous waste
· AWWU Line-Cleaning Camera Truck & H2O 2GO station
· Information about SWS Gas to Energy Project
· Heavy equipment demonstrations
· Bouncy house and face painting
· APD K-9 demonstrations
· Free food
· Live music
