Deputies searching for drive-by shooting suspect Carlos Mendoza

MATTAWA, Wash. (23JULY2015) – Grant County deputies are asking the public for help finding a suspect in a July 19 gang-related drive-by shooting.

Carlos Eduardo Mendoza, age 21 of Beverly, is wanted for drive-by shooting and first degree assault. Bail amount is set at $100,000.

A 9-1-1 call around 7:45 p.m. Sunday said there had a been a drive-by shooting near 18334 Third Street Southwest in the small town of Beverly in southwest Grant County. The caller said a car was fleeing towards Mattawa. The victim was targeted by the shooter. Nobody was injured.

Mattawa Police began pursuing the car in Mattawa. The car stopped in the Riverview Trailer Park, 200 East Fourth Street, where the shooter jumped out of the car, ran on foot and escaped. Police identified the shooter as Mendoza. The driver of the car, 18-year-old Antonio Martinez of Mattawa, was arrested and jailed for suspicion of drive-by shooting and first degree assault. The gun was not found in the car.

Mendoza is 5’11”, weighs 150 lbs. and has brown eyes and black hair. He has several tattoos: a tattoo on his left hand, tattoos of red dots on each finger, a tattoo on his right forearm which says “Maria”, and a tattoo on his chest which says “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop”. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
