Warehouse Fire Update - July 23, 2015 5:30 p.m.
* The warehouse fire located at Route 1 and Livingston Avenue is contained at this time. The fire department is using heavy machinery to extinguish hot spots which may cause small fires and additional smoke.
* The Environmental Protection Agency is continuously monitoring the site and surrounding areas for air quality concerns. No toxic concerns have been detected . Smoke and particle debris remain a concern in the immediate area of the fire. Winds and atmospheric conditions change smoke patterns. Residents are reminded to avoid or reduce exposure by staying indoors or staying out of areas containing smoke fields.
* Residents that were initially displaced are not being allowed into the area as a safety precaution. We hope all displaced residents will be back in their homes tomorrow provided air quality monitoring allows. Displaced residents that need to access their homes for medical or emergency reasons should contact the police department for a police escort.
*The shelter at Linwood Middle School will continue to remain open on an as needed basis.
*Due to the size of this warehouse, fire operations will continue for several days. Residents may experience discolored water or a drop in water pressure due to the fire demands placed on the system. Residents are advised that our water is safe for drinking and bathing. Please refrain from washing white or light colored clothing when discolored water is present.
*Please note we are working tirelessly to restore normal township operations for all residents.
