I-15 South Davis Improvements
Project Email Update 07/22/15

In observance of the Pioneer Day holiday, there will be no work with impacts to traffic from 5 a.m. Friday, July 23 until 10 p.m. Saturday, July 25 when lane closures will resume on I-15.



I-15

Expect ongoing nightly lane closures following the holiday for bridge sealing at 2600 South and paving on I-15 between 500 South and 1500 South through approximately August 2 and then moving to the area between 2600 South and Center Street nightly through mid-August.
2600 South
The 2600 South interchange is now open in its new configuration. Additional construction activities and nighttime impacts including single lane closures will continue through early August. The new interchange includes a modified continuous flow intersection (CFI) and improved pedestrian and bicycle access.

400 North/500 West Intersection

Construction to add dedicated right turn lanes to the south side of the 400 North and 500 West intersection is scheduled to begin as early as July 27. Expect daytime shoulder closures and nighttime lane closures in the area through August.

Ongoing Activities
I-15

One lane will be closed on I-15 during off-peak daytime hours (approximately 9am-3pm) Saturdays through Thursdays into early August while crews install final lane striping. This is a moving operation and will occur in one direction at a time.
I-15 will be reduced to one lane nightly through mid-August while crews complete a number of activities in preparation for project completion later this summer. Single lane closures will begin at 9:00 p.m. with I-15 reduced to one lane by midnight.
Utah Highway Patrol will conduct rolling slowdowns intermittently at night to allow for overhead sign installation within the project corridor. Expect intermittent delays up to 15 minutes.
Crews have begun shifting sections of I-15 into their permanent lane configurations in various locations. Be prepared for changing lane lines in various locations throughout the project.
Travel lanes are narrowed to 11'. Trucks carrying loads wider than 11' should contact the UDOT Motor Carrier Division, 801-965-4892
400 North
Crews continue work on the 400 North bridge. 400 North is expected to reopen to traffic in mid-August. The new bridge will have improved sidewalk, wider shoulders, and higher barrier.

During construction, the 400 North on-and off-ramps will remain open during the day. Expect intermittent nighttime ramp closures. Alternate routes
Expect additional nighttime lane restrictions on I-15 near 400 North for bridge construction.
500 South

The new 500 South Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) under I-15 is now open. Please pay close attention to signs and striping. See below for more information on how the new interchange functions.

The 500 South interchange in Bountiful functions very much like the Pioneer Crossing Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) in American Fork, except that the DDI in Bountiful will be under I-15. Remaining activities at 500 South will either be outside the travel lanes or occur with lane closures at night through August.

Project Overview

The I-15 South Davis Improvements project will:

Add ExpressLanes in both directions from the north I-215 interchange to U.S. 89 in Farmington.
Replace aging bridges at 2600 South, 1500 South, 500 South, and 400 North.
Reconfigure the interchanges at 2600 South, 500 South and 400 North in Bountiful to improve east/west mobility
Improve active transportation with better pedestrian facilities at 500 South, 400 North and Parrish Lane.

Plan Ahead To Reduce Delays And Impacts

I-15 will remain open without restrictions during peak hours. However, travel delays up to 30 minutes are expected during peak travel times. Use Legacy Parkway or Frontrunner to avoid delay. FrontRunner provides all-day service with 30-min. frequency during peak hours.

Stay alert and be prepared for changing lane configurations in the project area for your safety and the safety of those working here. Please obey the posted speed and be aware for changing roadway conditions throughout the project area.

UDOT maintenance work is ongoing on the ramps between I-15 and I-215. Expect the ramps to be restricted to one lane. Check UDOT Traffic for realtime alerts and impacts.
