A high-speed pursuit through Victorville ends with the arrest of a suspect for possession of a stolen vehicle

LOCATION: Rodeo Dr. X Hughes Rd, Victorville
SUSPECT(S): Jorge Martinez 28 yrs old - Hesperia
SUMMARY: On July 22, 2015, at 11:41 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Police Department located an occupied stolen vehicle in the area of Rodeo Dr. and Hughes Road in Victorville. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver, later identified as Jorge Martinez, fled at a high rate of speed. The pursuit traveled though the residental area until Martinez approached Bear Valley Rd. He drove westbound and entered the southbound I-15 at speeds up to 95 mph.
Martinez exited at Main St. in Hesperia and turned onto Key Point and then onto northbound Amargosa Rd. Martinez drove back to Bear Valley Rd. at speeds up to 85 mph. Martinez drove to the area of Nisqualli Rd and Cypress St. and spun out the vehicle. Martinez attempted to drive away and a P.I.T. maneuver was conducted and disabled the vehicle. Martinez was arrested without incident. While being detained, Martinez was holding a glass pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine and he is believed to have been under the influence of a controlled substance at the time of his arrest.
The vehicle had been stolen from West Covina on July 20, 2015. Martinez was booked at the High Desert Detention Center for PC496 - Possession of Stolen Property and VC2800 - Felony Evading.
