Bethel University Scholarships

Nine employees of the Jackson Police Department receive scholarships to Bethel University. Bethel University has partnered with the Jackson Police Department and set aside $45,000 in scholarship funds specifically for employees of the Jackson Police Department.

Six $5,000 scholarships for sworn personnel, and three $5,000 scholarships for civilian personnel have been allocated to be provided over the next year. The scholarships can be utilized by Jackson Police Department personnel seeking their Associates, Bachelors or Master’s Degree through the Bethel University College of Professional Studies.

Personnel interested in receiving one of the scholarships had to apply by signing up with the Professional Standards and Integrity Unit. A random lottery was conducted to determine the recipients of the Bethel University scholarships.

Bethel University has been ranked 2nd in the nation in the BestColleges.com list of Best Online Christian Liberal Arts Colleges for 2015. Bethel University’s mission statement states “Our mission is to create opportunities for adult learners to develop their intellectual capabilities through academic coursework and application in order to attain their success and the success of those they represent.”

“Partnering with Bethel University to provide scholarships for employees of the Jackson Police Department is a great opportunity for the recipients to better themselves and advance their careers” said Chief Julian Wiser.

Bethel University offers degrees in Criminal Justice, Information Technology, and Business along with a host of other professional degree options.
