Carjacking Suspect Arrested – On Thursday, July 16, 2015 at approximately 11:00 PM, a man and his girlfriend were carjacked at gunpoint in the 800 block of E. 20th Street. The suspects also robbed the woman. One day later, at about 11:20 p.m., an OPD officer observed the carjacked vehicle in the 2300 block of Fruitvale Avenue and a pursuit ensued. The driver of the vehicle, who was the sole occupant, drove it onto the lawn of San Antonio Park before he jumped out and ran. After a short foot pursuit, officers were able to detain the suspect and arrested him for carjacking.
Officers Find Loaded Weapon in Car; Arrest Driver – On Sunday, July 18, 2015 at about 9:49 PM, Oakland Police officers contacted the driver of a double-parked vehicle in the 800 block of Union Street and learned that he was on probation with a search clause. The officers elected to search the vehicle. During the search, they located a loaded firearm on the floorboard. After securing the weapon, the officers placed the driver under arrest for violation of probation and illegal possession of a firearm.
Armed Robber Arrested; Carjacked Vehicle Located – On Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 2:21 PM, Oakland Police officers were dispatched to 30th Street and Broadway to investigate a robbery/pistol whipping that had just occurred. The victim told officers that two suspects had approached him and demanded his bag. When he refused, one of the suspects hit him with a gun and then the two fled to a waiting vehicle driven by a third suspect. The victim was transported to the hospital in non-life-threatening condition. Not long after the attempted robbery, the getaway car was involved in a vehicle collision in the 3100 block of Telegraph Avenue. Officers were able to detain two of the fleeing suspects, and one was positively identified as the armed robber and arrested. It turned out that the getaway car had been carjacked earlier that same day.
Burglar Arrested On Scene – On Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at about 3:34 AM, OPD Dispatch received a call from a community member advising that she had video footage of a person breaking into a locked and secured complex in the 200 block of 3rd Street. When OPD officers arrived on scene, the witness advised that the suspect was attempting to hide from them. The officers located the suspect and arrested him for violation of probation and burglary.
