Homicide – 2100 Block of W. Whittier Blvd. Montebello

At approximately 12:18 am Montebello Police Officers responded to the 2100 Block of W. Whittier Blvd. in reference to a robbery that had just occurred and shots being fired. Once Officers arrived they located a male suspect that had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. A second male suspect was later located in the 100 block of N. Wilcox Ave who also sustained a single gunshot wound. These wounds were fatal.

The preliminary investigation has determined both suspects were armed with handguns attempted to rob the victim. During the robbery, one of the suspects fired multiple shots at the victim, striking the victim once. The victim, a local business owner, returned fire striking both suspects. The victim’s injuries were non-life threatening.

The suspects have not yet been identified. The victim’s name is being withheld at this time for his safety.

Investigators are attempting to contact anyone that can provide information about this incident. The public is encouraged to contact the lead investigator Detective C. Adams or Detective P. Antista.

UPDATED INFORMATION:

Montebello Police Department has taken custody of Toni Lopez, 21 years of age from Los Angeles. Lopez was detained by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department yesterday afternoon inside of a stolen vehicle taken in a carjacking. Investigators believe that Lopez was with Kevin Fierro and Roger Soriano during a violent crime spree starting Friday evening in East Los Angeles and ending in a violent and deadly robbery in Montebello.

Lopez was booked and charged with three counts of robbery and two counts of murder.

This investigation is ongoing and Investigators are looking for any additional victims and/or witnesses.
