After a thorough search of the South County Courthouse, no bomb was found. Normal business operations at the complex will resume by this afternoon. The Sheriff's Department thanks you for your patience and cooperation.

Be aware of increased law enforcement activity at the South County Courthouse in the 500 block of 3rd Avenue in Chula Vista due to a reported bomb threat.
The reported threat was called in just after 6:00 a.m. today (July 22nd). Out of an abundance of caution, the South Bay Detention Facility, which is housed in the courthouse complex, was locked down. Employees at the courthouse were also asked to evacuate.
The Sheriff's Bomb/Arson Unit is responding to the threat. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has also sent bomb-sniffing dogs to the courthouse. No further information is available at this time.
