(Fort Wayne, IN)-The Superintendent of the Indiana State Police, Douglas G. Carter, has announced the promotion of a Trooper from the Fort Wayne Post that took effect this past Monday, July 20th.
Senior Trooper Shane L. Neuenschwander has been promoted to the rank of Detective and transferred to the Criminal Investigation Command where he will assume investigative duties in Wells and Adams Counties.
Neuenschwander is a Wells County native and a 1997 graduate of Norwell High School who also holds an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne (IPFW). He was appointed as a Trooper on December 10, 2000 as a graduate of the 60th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and assigned to the Indiana State Police Post in Bremen.
In mid 2003, Neuenschwander transferred to the Indiana State Police Post in Fort Wayne where he was assigned to patrol duties in Wells and Adams Counties. In July 2009, Neuenschwander and his K-9 partner Smokey graduated from the Allen County Sheriff Department K-9 Academy and began their six year run as one of four K-9 teams assigned to the Fort Wayne Post.
During his career, he has served as a Field Training Officer, an ILEA certified instructor in Defensive Tactics, a member of both the Clandestine Laboratory Team and Tactical Intervention Platoon and in 2011, he was recognized by the American Legion Post in Bluffton for his outstanding public service to the community. Neuenschwander and his family are residents of Wells County.
