Nine People Arrested Following a Multi-Agency Narcotics Investigation

After a three month long investigation, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit with the assistance of the Santa Barbara Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, concluded its investigation with the arrest of nine people and the seizure of multiple weapons and narcotics.

During the month of April 2015, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit learned of a suspect, 35-year-old George Jolly of Santa Barbara, who was selling large amounts of methamphetamine and heroin in the Santa Barbara area.  An undercover detective was able to befriend Jolly and began purchasing narcotics from him, in addition to firearms, on several occasions.

On June 16, Jolly was stopped by a Sheriff’s deputy during a traffic stop in the City of Carpinteria.  After initially yielding, Jolly fled from the scene at a high rate of speed northbound on Highway 101.  When Jolly sped away, the deputy had to move quickly away from the path of the vehicle to avoid being run over.  Jolly crashed in the area of Coast Village Road and Hermosillo Road in Montecito.  When deputies arrived at the scene of the collision, Jolly had fled on foot.  A Sheriff’s K-9 Unit was deployed and Jolly was located hiding in a shed in the 100-block of Palm Tree Lane in Montecito.

A search of Jolly’s vehicle revealed approximately 6 pounds of methamphetamine and a half pound of heroin.  Jolly was booked for the narcotics violations, as well as evading law enforcement and assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer.

Although Jolly was in custody, the investigation into his drug trafficking organization continued.  On July 14, 2015, as a result of the investigation involving the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, Santa Barbara Police Department, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, and DEA, numerous search and arrest warrants were served in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara Counties.

As a result of the investigation, 23 pounds of methamphetamine, 5 pounds of heroin, 21 firearms, 8 vehicles, and a large amount of cash were seized.  In total, there were 9 arrests made.  Of those, three of the individuals were residents of Santa Barbara County.
