Amarillo man arrested after stealing construction site grade forklift.

On Tuesday July 21st at 2:08am, an APD officer observed a subject driving a large construction size forklift southbound in the 1700 block of S. Bolton. The officer stopped the individual to ascertain what he was doing driving this forklift. The subject is identified as Dennis Lee Morrison W/M 49 of Amarillo. Morrison old officers he just finished working on a jobsite around 11:30pm (during the heavy down pouring rain) and was suppose to take the forklift to a shop for some repairs. Officers determined the forklift was rented by a local rental company and they were contacted. They were able to locate the company who actually rented the forklift and they came to the scene. It was later determined the forklift was stolen from a jobsite at Bowie Middle School where Morrison had driven it through a fence in order to steal it. Morrison was subsequently arrested for Theft over $100,000 less than $200,000 and booked into the Potter County Correction Center.
