Clayton County Fire Chief Landry Merkison advises:


The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has forecast dangerous heat today in central and north Georgia including Clayton County. Clayton County is NOT in the Heat Advisory; however, temperatures will remain high with a heat index that feels like 99-100 degrees. Also, scattered thunderstorms are possible from noon to 10 am.


Please exercise caution today. Stay inside if possible. If you must be outside, limit your time in the sun, wear light colored clothing and drink plenty of water. Learn to recognize the symptoms of heat related illnesses:
Light-headed/Dizzy
Extreme thirst
Muscle cramps
Rapid heart beat
Nausea and vomiting
If you experience any of these symptoms, get inside and seek medical attention immediately.
