Three suspects arrested for residential burglary

On July 13, 2015 at approximately 1:15 p.m., a residential burglary occurred on the 1400 block of Richardson Avenue in Los Altos. The victims left their residence for approximately two hours and returned to find it ransacked. Jewelry and firearms were discovered missing.

During a neighborhood canvass for possible witnesses, Los Altos Police Officers were able to obtain video surveillance footage that showed a suspect exit a vehicle and approach the victim’s residence. This video enabled Officers to identify three suspects; Delancey Huff, DOB: 6/18/80; Robert Mandigo, DOB: 3/29/96; and Khalida Peterson, DOB: 6/14/96.  All three suspects are residents of San Francisco.

An alert was sent to surrounding law enforcement agencies and acting quickly, the San Francisco Police Department was able to locate and detain each of the three suspects for Los Altos Detectives. Stolen property that included jewelry and a firearm taken in the Los Altos burglary were located by San Francisco Police. Additional stolen property was recovered by Los Altos Detectives at a San Francisco pawn shop.

At the time of arrest, Suspect Huff was on parole for assault with a deadly weapon. Suspect Mandigo was on felony probation for possession of an assault weapon, and suspect Peterson was on felony probation for possession of a controlled substance for sales. All three suspects were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, possession of stolen property, and violating the terms of their probation/parole. Mandigo was booked with the additional charges of possessing a firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The Los Altos Police Department is grateful for the quick action and assistance provided by the San Francisco Police Department.

Reporting suspicious activity in their neighborhoods (i.e. any individuals exhibiting behavior consistent with “casing” their neighborhood, aggressive solicitors, suspicious vehicles not known to the neighborhood, etc.).  When calling, the public is asked to articulate specific observations, which would substantiate their suspicions.

2. Securing their homes:  There are a variety of preventative measures community members can take to secure their homes and deter criminal activity. Some of these techniques include installing burglar alarms, locking perimeter gates and access points, installing exterior motion lights, and video surveillance systems. Please report suspicious activity to the Los Altos Police Department at (650) 947-2770.
