Advisory

Heat Advisory in effect until 8 p.m. EDT Monday; North Brunswick Library designated as cooling station

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory until 8 p.m. Temperatures will be in the low to mid 90s with a heat index around 100.

The combination of high temperatures and humidity are dangerous if proper precautions are not taken.

Here are some preparedness actions from the National Weather Service:

Please take extra precaution when working or spending time outdoors. If possible, stay indoors as much as possible and limit exposure to the sun.

Anyone overcome by the heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency, call 9-1-1.

Drink plenty of water, even if you are not feeling thirsty. Dress in loose-fitting, lightweight and light colored clothes.

Children and pets should never be left unattended in a parked vehicle under any circumstance but most especially during hot weather. The interior of a vehicle can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

The North Brunswick Library (880 Hermann Road) has been designated as a cooling station. Their hours today are from 10 AM to 9 p.m.
