On July 19th, 2015 at 12:42 AM, officers were dispatched to 2501 I-40 East on a WM in the parking lot who had been shot. The victim, a WM, 76 years of age, told officers he was walking toward the Western Horseman Lounge when he was shot in the back of the head. The victim related that an unknown race male took his wallet from his pants and then fled. The victim was then able to walk to the building and ask for help. He was later taken to a local hospital with possible life-threatening injuries. Witnesses described a blue and silver Dodge Truck with Texas license plates parked where the incident occurred, and stated it left the scene immediately after the incident. The truck has not been located. The investigation remains on going.
***UPDATE 7-20-2015****On 7-19-15, at about 10:00 PM, officers went to a home in the 1700 block of S. Roosevelt and recovered a handgun and the victim’s wallet. Officers determined that the items were left in the home by a male known to the resident. Officers went to a home in the 5400 block of Tradewind to locate the male that left the gun on Roosevelt. A vehicle matching the description of the one that left the scene after the robbery was at the Tradewind address. Officers found Samuel Mascorro HM 28 and Amber Marie Gomez HF27 at the home. Both were transported to the APD. Investigation linked both to this case, and they were booked into the Potter County Detention Center for aggravated robbery pending filing of formal charges.
The victim remains hospitalized and detectives believe that his condition has stabilized.
