Etowah Cooling Centers Opened 
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Heat Advisory for Etowah County which is in effect until 9 pm CDT Sunday. Cooling Centers are now open: Gadsden Public Library located a 254 College Street. Operating hours are from 9 am until 5 pm today and Saturday. Contact is Craig Scott: 256-549-4699
The Salvation Army: Located at 114 N.11th Street. They will be open 24 hours a day. Contact is Capt. Hayes: 256-546-4673
Please drink plenty of water to replace minerals in your body. Limit sun exposure during mid-day hours. Avoid hot foods and heavy meals, which add heat to your body. Wear light, loose clothing and wear sun screen. Shade children with a hat or umbrella. Please check on the elderly and make sure your pets have plenty of FRESH water and adequate shade.
