Special Olympics "Flame of Hope" coming through Temple City on Sunday
On Sunday afternoon, the Flame of Hope, the official torch for the Special Olympics World Summer Games Los Angeles 2015, will be carried through Temple City. Temple City is one of 119 cities or towns selected to host the Torch Run and ceremony.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run Final Leg is taking place in anticipation of the Special Olympic World Summer Games, which will begin on July 25, 2015, and will feature over 7,000 athletes from 177 countries.
The Torch Run will feature 40 Special Olympic Athlete and Law Enforcement runners and will begin at Rosemead Blvd. and Las Tunas Dr. at approximately 3:15 p.m. The runners will proceed down Las Tunas Dr. to Temple City Park, where a ceremony will showcase the Law Enforcement Torch Run Final Leg Special Olympics Team.
Come out and encourage the Special Olympic and Law Enforcement runners along the route and at the ceremony.
Please be advised that Las Tunas Dr., between Kauffman Ave. and Golden West Ave. will be closed on Sunday, July 19 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
