ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON

On July 9th at around 3:00pm officers were dispatched to a report of a possible assault with a deadly weapon. The victim reported while walking through the Walmart parking lot she noticed an unoccupied vehicle, windows rolled up, with two small dogs barking inside. The victim called the police department to report the dogs and while she waited for police to arrive, the suspect (owner) of the vehicle exited Walmart. The suspect appeared angry with the victim, words were exchanged, and the suspect backed out of the parking space while striking both knees of the victim with his vehicle. The suspect is described as a white, male adult, approx. 5’11” tall and about 160lbs, with thinning gray hair and gray beard. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a Gray, Ford Crown Victoria with New Jersey license plates. The vehicle resembles a Police Interceptor, however there were no other visible markings that would identify the vehicle as a police vehicle. The police are still trying to identify the suspect.

ROBBERIES

On July 11h, at approximately 6:30pm officers were dispatched to Lowes located at Union Landing Blvd. A transient victim reported that he was robbed at gun point by a known associate, who is also transient and lives at a nearby homeless encampment. The loss was a battery charger, and $2700.00 in cash. The suspect fled the area and was described as a light skin Hispanic male adult, approximately 5’09” tall and 200lbs, with short hair and a thin short beard. This case is still under investigation.

SUSPICIOUS FOUND PROPERTY

On July 8th, at about 2:00pm officers were dispatched to the UCPD front lobby and met with a woman who had come into the PD to report that she and her husband had found, what appeared to be a very large and heavy missile. The woman transported the missile in her vehicle, which was located in the PD parking lot. Officers quickly examined the missile, which was approximately 3ft long and 6-8 inches in diameter. Officers contacted the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit. The Police Department and City Library offices were evacuated and once on scene, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department collected the missile and conducted their own investigation.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCE

On July 12th, at about 9:00pm officers were dispatched on a report of a suspicious male suspect at the Games Workshop located at the Union Landing. The suspect who first appeared to be a “regular” customer, made a very inappropriate comment of a sexual nature to the female victim. The victim asked the suspect to leave the store and advised that the police were going to be called. The suspect fled the store in an unknown direction. The suspect is described as a black, male adult, between 20-25 years-old, short black hair, wearing a white button up shirt and slacks and had what appeared to be a burn scar on the left side of his head. Police are still trying to identify the suspect.

ATTENDED DEATH

On July 9th, at approximately 11:30am officers and Alameda County Firefighters and Paramedics were called to an unresponsive 83-year-old female adult. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene and there were no signs of trauma or foul play. Family members stated the victim was visiting from out of state and although the victim had not complained of any recent illness, the victim did suffer from multiple health related issues.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES

From Monday July 6th through Sunday July 12th, there were five reported residential burglaries:
• Lilac Street- Entry point was rear sliding glass door
• Union Square Apts.- Entry point was rear back door
• Tartarian Way- Possible entry points were rear sliding glass door or bathroom window
• Brenda Way- Padlock cut from outside storage unit
• Blythe Street- Entry point was rear sliding glass door.

AUTO BURGLARIES

From Monday July 6th through Sunday July 12th, there were six reported auto burglaries:
• In & Out Burger- Entry was a front passenger window smash
• Chevy’s Restaurant- Entry was a rear window smash
• Starbucks Coffee (Dyer St)- Entry was a rear window smash
• In & Out Burger- Entry was a rear window smash
• Extended Stay Hotel- Entry is unknown
• Home Depot- Entry was front passenger widow smash

VEHICLE THEFTS

From Monday July 6th through Sunday July 12th, there were seven reported vehicle thefts. At the time of this writing, three of those vehicles have been recovered.

VANDALISM

On July 6th, at approximately 11:20am, officers were dispatched to Mission Blvd. in regards to a vehicle vandalism. The victim reported that the suspects scratched most of all the exterior of the victim’s vehicle causing approximately $400 in damage. No suspect information at this time.

On July 6th, at about 3:30pm officers were dispatched to Miller Ct. on a report of a suspect ramming their vehicle into a locked gate located on a sound wall. After several unsuccessful attempts, the suspect drove away. Suspect described as a white, female adult, approximately 45-years-old, with short red hair. Suspect vehicle was described as a dark green SUV.
