There is a new scam regarding individuals pretending to be Sheriff’s Deputies.
The Whittier Police Department has received several calls from residents stating they have been contacted, by phone, by an individual claiming to be a Sheriff’s Deputy. The person pretending to be a deputy tells them they had missed jury duty and that they are in violation. The caller then asks them to bring $2,000 to the Star Center to settle the violation. Please be advised that this is a scam.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department will never call a resident to make any demand for money.
