Man arrested after early morning residential burglary in northeast Amarillo.

On Wednesday July 15th at 2:37am, APD officers were sent to the 4000 block of NE 16th reference a delayed burglary report. Upon arrival officers spoke with the victim who stated that when he returned home he found his porch light on and his front door unlocked. As officers were speaking with the victim, they (officers) observed a W/M walking out between two houses across the street. The victim told the officers that he had never seen the W/M before and that he did not believe he lived in the area. Officers then called out to the individual as he was now walking down the street in order to identify him. Officers shined their flashlights on the W/M and identified themselves as Police Officers. The W/M immediately took off running. Offices gave chase and caught up to the subject after a short foot chase. The W/M was found to be in possession of 3 watches that were stolen from the residence on NE 16th, and was wearing a 4th watch also stolen in the burglary.

The W/M is identified as Seth Alan Abbitt W/M 35 from Euless, Texas. Abbitt was arrested and transported to Potter County Correction Center. Abbitt was charged with Burglary of a Habitation and Evading Arrest/Detention.
