Severe Thunderstorm Watch
The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch that currently covers much of North Georgia.
The watch will remain in effect until 11pm tonight.
A line of severe thunderstorms will move southward into North Georgia and continue moving through the area into tonight. Some storms will be severe with the greatest threat over North Georgia. These storms will likely begin to weaken as they push into Central Georgia.
Hazards expected include damaging winds up to 70 MPH, frequent lightning, heavy rainfall and large hail.
Persons across North Georgia should remain weather aware throughout the evening and tonight. Monitor local media outlets and NOAA Weather for later statements and possible warnings.
