Update on the hunt for David Santos #SantosManhunt

GRANT COUNTY, Wash. (13JULY2015) - Investigators involved in the search for David Santos today are releasing the following information.

PART 1: DISPOSITION OF THREE VEHICLES ASSOCIATED WITH SANTOS

Investigators are analyzing three vehicles associated with Santos during high-speed pursuits on June 30 and July 3, and a vehicle stolen on July 4. All of the vehicles listed below are now in secured evidence storage. All three vehicles have been processed for evidence by the Columbia Basin Investigative Team and the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab.

* Vehicle #1: 2000 Dodge Durango, used by Santos on June 30 to flee law enforcement. Santos is alleged to have fired a rifle at pursuing police from this vehicle. This vehicle was recovered July 4 in an orchard near Road 25-Southwest near Mattawa.

* Vehicle #2: 2000 Ford Expedition, used by Santos to flee from law enforcement on July 3, 2015. It has been confirmed and can now be disclosed that Santos was in possession of a live hand grenade which was found on the ground next to the Expedition after Santos fled on foot. That grenade was rendered safe by the Richland Police Bomb Squad then seized as evidence and analyzed. A 7.62mm cartridge was found at the scene near the Expedition after it had crashed into an orchard at the end of the July 3 pursuit.

* Vehicle #3: 1997 Toyota Tercel. It was stolen around 11:00 a.m. July 4 from a home near Road P-SW west of Royal City. That vehicle was recovered around 8:00 p.m. July 4 near Mattawa. When it was recovered, the muzzle of an assault rifle (later determined to be an SKS-type rifle) was visible inside the car, leading investigators to believe the vehicle theft and rifle are associated with David Santos.

It is unknown what, if any, vehicle Santos may be using now.

Santos is facing the following charges:

* Possession of prohibited explosive device (hand grenade),

* 2 counts of first-degree assault (against law enforcement officer),

* 2 counts of attempting to elude a police vehicle.

Anyone with information on Santos is asked to call the Grant County Sheriff's Office at 509-762-1160, or send info to [email protected]. Tipsters can remain anonymous.

Santos is armed and dangerous. Citizens should not approach or try to apprehend him. Citizens should call the police instead.
