1. The Grosse Pointe Farms Department of Public Safety would like to inform residents of recent larcenies from autos that have been occurring within city over the last two weeks. The majority incidents have been occurring north of Beaupré Avenue during the evening / early morning hours. These are a crimes of opportunity and residents are informed to secure/remove valuables and lock your vehicles. Residents are urge to call the police department (313-885-2100 or 911) anytime they observe suspicious behavior in their neighborhood.
2. 5k Race
Possible registration scam on a 5k run supposedly taking place next Sunday, July 19th. The GPFDPS knows nothing about it. The run is being advertised as a 5K honoring Lions great Charlie Sanders who recently passed . At this time we believe this COULD be a scam ! We will be working with Detroit Lions personnel to determine its validity.
