City of Turlock National Night Out
On Tuesday August 4th from 6pm to 9pm, residents throughout Turlock will be participating in “America’s Night Out Against Crime” National Night Out event. Residents will be locking their doors, turning on outside lights and spending the evening outdoors with neighbors and police.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for local anticrime efforts, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. In 2014, the City of Turlock won an award from the National Association of Town Watch for an exceptional sixth year of participation in the program. Turlock residents sponsored 32 block parties and received visits from Turlock Police officers, Turlock Fire staff, City Officials, McGruff the Crime Dog, CSUS Police, and several other guests.
Neighbors are encouraged to host special events such as block parties, cookouts, ice cream socials, or neighborhood gatherings. Turlock Police and Turlock Fire officials will be visiting each area that registers their party with the Turlock Police Department.
For 2015, Turlock Police will be hosting an Appreciation Dinner to recognize the hard work the Block Captains put in to making their event successful. This event will be available for the Block Captains and will be held on July 23, 2015.
If you are interested in participating in National Night Out 2015, please contact Crime Prevention Officer Michelle Backeroff at (209) 656-3153. Block party registration forms need to be returned to the Police Department by no later than July 17, 2015 in order to ensure a visit from the Police Department.
If you will not be participating in a neighborhood block party but would like to participate in National Night Out, Turlock Recreation will be hosting a National Night Out party (free of cost) at Columbia Park from 6:00pm-9:00pm.
The Turlock Police Department is an active participant in the Crime Stoppers Program. Callers can leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636 and may be eligible for a cash reward.
