DATE/TIME: 5/26/15 1230 pm
LOCATION: Staples 1100 State Highway 35
OFFICERS INVOLVED: Detective Michael Melody and Officer Cory Cole
ACCUSED: Vincent Rogers Jr. age 23 Neptune, NJ
NARRATIVE:
On 5/26/15 at approximately 1230 pm. Officer Cory Cole was dispatched to Staples 1100 State Highway 35 in reference to a female victim reporting an invasion of her privacy.
An investigation revealed that an unknown subject had used a cell phone to take a picture up the victims dress as she was shopping. The subject was last seen getting into a vehicle and leaving the parking lot. The image of the accused was caught on the store’s closed circuit video system which was provided to police.
Detective Michael Melody was assigned the follow up investigation. With the assistance of the Neptune Township Police Department, Detective Melody identified Vincent Rogers Jr. as a suspect and determined that he operated a similar car that was seen exiting the Staple’s parking lot. Several weeks later, Detective Melody learned that a similar incident has occurred at the Monmouth Mall in Eatontown and he was subsequently identified as the same subject involved in both incidents. Detective Melody provided Eatontown detectives with the identity of the accused in the Monmouth Mall incidents.
On 7/8/15 Mr. Rogers was placed under arrest at the Eatontown Police Headquarters and charged by Detective Melody with the May 26th incident at Staple’s. As a result of Detective Melody’s investigation and identification of Mr. Rogers, Eatontown Police charged him with the incidents that occurred at
Monmouth Mall. Mr. Rogers was released on a complaint summons and is scheduled to appear at a future court hearing.
