Bremen Post Trooper Kevin Kubsch Reaches 35 Years of Service

Indiana State Police Master Trooper Kevin Kubsch just recently reached the milestone of 35 years of service with the department.  Kubsch has spent his entire career working in St. Joseph County.

Kubsch, a St. Joseph County native, was appointed to the department in July 1980.  He was originally assigned to the South Bend State Police Post out of the academy, but was transferred with the entire district to the new Bremen Post after the South Bend Post closed.  The South Bend Post was located on Lincolnway near the South Bend Airport.

During his tenure with the state police Kubsch has remained very active within the department taking on several additional roles.  In the 1980’s Kubsch served as an Emergency Vehicle Operations instructor for the department and also joined the ISP SWAT team where he was a member for 14 years.

Kubsch took on additional duties becoming a First Aid instructor and has served in that position for the past 32 years.  In 1986 Kubsch was also working with the youth services section of the department and was instrumental in starting the Respect for Law Camp at Notre Dame, which is still in operation today.   Master Trooper Kubsch has also been actively involved with the training of newly hired officers.  He has more than 20 years service as a Field Training Officer for the state police.

For the past four years Kubsch has been a member of the Notre Dame Football Team Security Detail.  This protection detail, which also includes Major George Heeter and Officer Jerome Keultjes from the Notre Dame Security Police Department, travels with the football team during the season.

Master Trooper Kevin Kubsch resides in St. Joseph County with his wife Judy Kubsch and their son.  Judy is also a 21 year veteran of the state police.
