On Monday, July 6, 2015 at approximately 4:08 AM, Oakland Police officers responded to the 6200 block of Eastlawn Street to investigate a report of trespassing. When officers arrived on-scene, they observed two suspects: one walking out of the building, which was burned and abandoned, and a second one sitting in a parked vehicle in the driveway. The car had been reported stolen in an armed carjacking. Officers detained both suspects, made a security check of the premises, and discovered multiple stolen vehicles in different stages of being dismantled. Both suspects were arrested for running a chop shop and possession of stolen property; the second suspect was also arrested for carjacking.
