I-805/East Palomar Street Traffic Shift
Motorists travelling through Chula Vista along Interstate 805 (I-805) can expect to see a shift in the traffic pattern between Telegraph Canyon Road and Olympic Parkway this week.
Between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., crews will remove existing concrete barriers on the right side of southbound and northbound I-805 beginning tonight and on Tuesday, July 7. On Wednesday and Thursday nights, crews will begin restriping on both directions of I-805 to shift traffic to the outside.
Additional work will be performed Sunday, July 12, through Thursday, July 16, to adjust the concrete barriers in the median.
Travelers can expect to encounter periodic lane closures in both directions during construction. The northbound on-ramp at Olympic Parkway and the southbound off-ramp at Telegraph Canyon Road will also be closed periodically through next week.
At least two lanes will remain open in each direction at all times. Nearby residents can expect intermittent construction lights and noise during work hours.
The new configuration is needed to accommodate construction of the Direct Access Ramp (DAR) at East Palomar Street, which will be built along the median in this area.
