Deputies arrest two residents of Lake Arrowhead for the 2013 murder of David Quijas

DATE/TIME: Wednesday, April 24, 2013 9:03 p.m. **UPDATE- June 30, 2015**

INCIDENT: Homicide Investigation

LOCATION: 700 block of W. Victoria Court, Lake Arrowhead

VICTIM: David Quijas, age 46, a resident of Running Springs

SUSPECTS: Christopher Batchelor, age 42 a resident of Lake Arrowhead
Joshua Kemp, age 40 a resident of Lake Arrowhead

UPDATE: Tuesday, June 30, 2015

On June 24, 2015, after further review of the case, the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s office filed charges of Involuntary Manslaughter against Christopher Batchelor and Joshua Kemp and warrants for their arrest were issued.

On Tuesday, June 30, 2015, deputies from the Twin Peaks Station and the Sheriff’s Multiple Enforcement Team (MET), located Batchelor and Kemp. Batchelor and Kemp were arrested and booked at the Big Bear Jail for PC192(B) Involuntary Manslaughter.

SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at approximately 9:03 p.m., Deputies from the Twin Peaks Station responded to the report of an assault that had occurred in the 700 block of W. Victoria Court in Lake Arrowhead. Upon arrival, deputies and fire personnel located an adult male suffering from upper body trauma. The victim was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail was requested and responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. Homicide Detectives initially identified and arrested Christopher Batchelor and Joshua Kemp on suspicion of murdering of David Quijas. An autopsy was conducted to determine the exact cause of death. The District Attorney’s office initially reviewed the case and chose not to file murder charges.
