Victorville- Deputy involved traffic collision with minor injuries

INCIDENT: Sheriff's Unit Involved Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Victorville
SUSPECT(S): Robert Burgum, age 26, Victorville
VICTIM(S): Deputy Sheriff
SUMMARY: On July 5, 2015, at approximately 1:00 am, a deputy sheriff from the Victorville Station was traveling south on 7th Street in a marked patrol unit. As he approached the intersection of Lorene Drive, a red Chevy Silverado pick up truck driven by Robert Burgum of Victorville ran the red light and crossed in front of the path of the unit. The deputy was unable to avoid the collision and was broadsided by the Silverado.
Burgum and the deputy were transported to a local area hospital with moderate injuries, and they were treated and released. The San Bernardino County Regional Major Accident Investigation Team is now conducting the investigation. Investigators believe alcohol was a contributing factor in the collision.
